Shilpa Viswanathan Iyer is a contemporary artist working with the traditional media of painting. Living and working in Singapore has helped her imbibe and blend South East Asian, Western Indian cultures in her works.
Studied to be a Commercial Artist from the Raheja School of Arts in Mumbai.Worked in the fast paced Advertising Industry as a Senior Art Director in India – Hindustan Thompson Associates, Mumbai for over a decade. Work involved illustration and visualization for leading corporate Branding and print campaigns. Won domestic and International acclaim for Johnny Walker and GlaxoSmithKline Campaigns.
Moved to Singapore in 2011 and opted to pursue a full time career as a fine Artist. Went back to academia to pursue her fine Art passion with an advanced Chinese Ink and Western painting diploma from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Art Singapore.
She draws her inspiration from regular practice of deep meditation and has developed a distinctive style of painting that highlights elements of nature with vivid fluid colors. Shilpa is known for her new innovative style SCULPAINT
A unique blend of sculpture and painting.
She sculpts out wooden tree trunk slices and fills in the cavities with layers of colours.
Firmly believes in Mary Angelou Quote “A solitary fantasy can transform a million realities”. She tries to reflect her experiences through abstract paintings and also Enjoys teaching children and Adults in Singapore to discover the artist in them through the power of imagination and visualization.
